Provides community service employment opportunities to income-eligible Baltimore County residents, age 55 and older. Participants earn minimum wage while training in the community for government and non-profit agencies. The goal of SCSEP is to provide work experience and on-the-job training to improve the individual’s skills and thus enhance their ability to obtain an unsubsidized job. SCSEP participants train at such agencies as Baltimore County Libraries, Public Schools, Department of Aging Senior Centers, as well as the American Red Cross, American Cancer Society and other locations. These agencies serve as Host Agencies and SCSEP participants are assigned to the host agency as their training sites for no longer than one year. A host agency must be a unit of government or a non-profit organization classified under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Host agencies provide training, supervision, and work experience for participants.
